Just finished up a big lead encapsulation job on a condo in Dorchester, MA. All the natural wood had varnish that contained lead. We did one coat of stain blocker, two coats of Lead Stop encapsulate and one coat of finish paint.
Here are some Before and After photos of the job.
Where do you get lead stop encapsulate? I have only done a couple lead jobs since I started following the new EPA regs. Also has anyone used the " Lead Out" stripper? Thinking of try on an exterior
I Have never used Lead out! As far as Lead Stop check with your local hardware store some places carry it! It's a very thick product and has a grain in it. We actually had to remove the filter from the spray gun to spray. It left a sand finish on the trim which we had to scuff before the finish coat. All in All it was decent and the lead test passed which was the most important thing.
The 2 I normally carry are Child Guard by Fiberlock Technologies or Insul-x Insl-cap. I can make some calls to see if it's available to me in small quantities. Dumond may require a $500 minimum order directly. It is not in either warehouse I normally pull from.
I have not seen this product before. Did you scuff the woodwork with sandpaper before applying the product ? Do you sand between coats ?
