Default Lead Paint Laws

April 2010 laws regarding working on homes with lead paint will be changing.
I ordered (free) some materials from EPA here.
Although we do not plan on getting into this type of work, there is some good information to be aware of.

I hear ya! Not something for the unprepared. Just did an exterior bid for someone who just bought a pre 1978 home and said part of the loan preinspection was to have an Enviromental Engineer come in and test for Asbestos, Mold and Lead. It is going to be regulated. You can get certified to be an Inspector or Risk Assessor, might be a service to look into?!

If you have the latest Google Earth you can see a "timeline" of the building in your area to see what homes were there around 1978. Pretty cool!

Most sates are requiring anyone who works on pre 78 houses to take an 8 hour class to comply with the new law. The class gives you some basic info how to protect yourself and the Ho from lead poisoning.Contact your local state health dept for more info as each state has a diffrent laws

If anyone has some lead dust, can you send it to me? We are planning on having a pancake breakfast for the neighborhood and I think lead flour will make some of the smarter.

thanks

we'd better meet at the state line and hand it across the border so neither can be accused of transporting it out of or into state.

Yes I did. And after reading the latest PWC about needing to be certified to work on pre1978 homes, I am glad I am not faced with that issue.
