Priming new drywall

I would prime it.

I actually had the opportunity to walk a new building building recently that a member of my family is responsible for planning. It is now in the painting stages, and I can tell you, that something other than PVA sealer was used on the bare drywall, but may be considered just as notorious to some.

Just be aware, primer has a real emotional attachment to it on these boards. So tread...I mean spread, cautiously.

I guess it comes down to what standards you're working toward then. If you're asking for an opinion, most of us say yes, prime it. There are a myriad of reasons for that. At the end of the day, it's your job, your money and your decision. Test it out for yourself and see which methods provide the desired results.
