Default Question

Hello-
I know it's technically breaking the rules but this website has helped me out a lot. I graduated from college a few years ago and work in finance. My dad was a painter (maybe 20 years ago) and I was hoping to eventually one day become a contractor after I gain some experience.

Would anybody be willing to talk to me on the phone about the industry? I live in Minnesota (I don't really care where you live).

Thanks

Default New Business Help

Smart move to reach out for advice from those who have been there. I would be glad to put in my two cents if you like - (the good, bad and ugly of it)

I have been in the painting industry for 30+ years, as a contractor, estimator project manager and now the owner of a consulting/training company. You can view my web site at www.paintprecise.com for several free blogs that may help. You can also send your contact information to my email, and I will be glad to set up a time we can chat. (No sales pitch, just help)

Best Regards,

Lynn Jackson

Thanks for the info @LynnJ. Are you going to the PDCA conference by chance? I'm wondering if you have the opportunity to speak or sell your education there?

Default PDCA Conference

Hi Angie,

I'm afraid I am not able to get to the PDCA conference this year. In years past, I have conducted several seminars on estimating and blueprint reading for the PDCA though. For now I am just offering advise through blogs on my web site and Blogging Painters.com. or by email if someone needs a bit of help.

Best,

Lynn

@cpalme1 Are you looking to enter the commercial or residential side of the business? Also, is your goal to start your own painting business?

If you have a local PDCA chapter I'd recommend attending a meeting. It would be a great network with other painter and get a feel for your local market.
