Default Hey There!

Just wanted to drop in and say Hi!

My fiance and I are going to be starting up our own painting business in 2017. She's the brains and I am the workhorse I have been painting for a few years now and I think it's time to step out and see what I can do. We live in the PNW and there is a lot of competition out here. All we can do is pray!

If anyone has any advice for starting up a new business, I would greatly appreciate it.

Have a great day!

Get legal, stay legal and don't short yourself or the trade by being the "cheapest".
Welcome to PT and good luck on your business adventure!

Welcome Blaze. Congratulations on your new adventure. Best advice I can give you is treat people the way you want to be treated. Be honest with your people. Tell them what you're going to do and do what you said you'd do. Keep your taxes paid. Stay away from credit . Don't feel obligated to paint for your family and friends cheap. If you want to tell them to wait till you have down time. I hope this helps. I hope you have a successful business.

Welcome to the forum. Located in Oregon myself. There are quite a few of us from the great Pacific Northwest that are active on the site.

Welcome! Good luck starting your business.

You should spend a lot time looking at the stickies in the Business sub forum. Just about anything you need to know about running a painting business can be found here.

Welcome to the group.

Get insurance. Workers comp if you have employees, get an accountant, incorporate to save on taxes vs being a DBA (doing business as...), get lead paint certified/licensed, never lie to a customer, get paint reps contact info (for pricing and issues you may encounter), grab some business cards and yard signs. Also a Facebook business page, we get a lot of work from ours.
