Default The time has come.....

We now have advertising on our own website (www.painttalk.com) for Home Depot's painting services. I didn't think it would be here so soon. Aren't they closing stores and not doing so well? I better go market to Wal-Mart so I can subcontract for them....don't they sell a lot of paint and carry the number one interior paint according to Consumer Reports? Sad times.

Ok, even though its saturday, its early, and I havent had nearly enough coffee yet...I'll bite.

Todd, not sure what you are talking about. I clicked on the link you posted and saw nothing about Home Depot.

New Image Painting does have a banner ad that shows up on PT. New Image does HD's painting.

To the OP, HD has been offering painting in Houston for years, and they've been doing so in other cities even longer.

I have seen the New Image banner, but hadnt looked closely enough to associate it with HD. I don't know that we can condemn HD for that, but most of us have a strong opinion about those of our trade who sell their souls to that particular devil.

Been lots of bad press how HD screws both HO and sub-contractor in other parts of the home-improvement business.

But hey, if PT can milk this unsacred cow for a few of it's ill got sheckels, then why not. Nothing says we professionals have to patronize those who sponsor this site.

Heck, lets' deplete their bank account a little.

and right at the bottom of this page I now see an ad for "College Works Painting". Ever any good reports on them?

I'm not sure that Nathan could prevent them from running a banner ad. Those ads are via Google Ad Word, unless I am mistaken.

Those ads are contextual and show up based on the content of the site. So, they are probably just looking for key words like "professional painting" or something like that. Google shows ads for all sorts of companies like this. I saw a college painting banner the other day.

If they start showing up down the right hand side of the screen there will be cause for alarm...

Nathan is correct. As web site owners each has the opportunity to add Google or other types of marketing. When someone visits PT or web pages then clicks on one of these ads, the web page owner makes a few cents per click. While Nathan could chose not to have the contextual ads, I am sure these help him in keeping the PT sight in operation.

Want to help Nathan... Click on those ads that say "Ads by Google" put some money in Nathan's PT fund and causes the advertiser to have to payout some amount per-click. Oh yes Google gets more than their fair share

I'd rather make a contribution to Paint Talk through Pay Pal or credit card than have google get a share of it.
