Default Your input please..

Hey everyone. I just added part this to our site and wanted to get your feedback. I realize that some of the pictures aren't exactly stellar, but with time I'll keep tweaking and have better shots.

I have to admit, I'm feeling a bit smug....I can't believe I figured out how to do this...

For what it's worth...

Nice job, Dogan. I have to admit, it made me a little dizzy at first, but I can sure appreciate the potential. I have fooled around with the wmp on my laptop and made some cool sequences, there are lots of cool options for transitions etc.

Looks good, the videos sure do tell the story better than still pix.
You can put them on youtube and link to your site, supposed to be good for seo.

Susanne, be sure to title your YouTube Video for something that will rank locally (eg. Bucks County Painting Professional Painters Service). Google will pick it up and pop it on the first page. It will probably outrank your website. Do the same thing for CraigsList. Your not shooting for CraigsList shoppers, its just another listing your company will have on the first page of Google results. Again the title is key.

One more thing to do on your video is in the description of the YouTube video put http://yourURL so that when a customer finds the video they can immediately click through to your site. Make it the first thing in the description.

Nice idea and concept. Maybe it is just my pc but the pictures were very blurry. They seemed to clear up after the zooming was completed. But the clear pic only lasted a second before the blurry, zooming of the next pic started. The interior of the mall portion seemed more construction oriented vs. painting - maybe that was your intent. Personally, I like the shots where it actually shows work in progress (for example, one of your last pics that had a wall half painted and showed the worker).

I am not being negative just giving my 1st impression. Also, I understand this is something you are new at. So, excellent 1st run at it and keep gaining experience doing it. I'd sure like to add something like this to my website. So, get darn good at it and we'll come to you for future advice. Good luck.

I clicked here to view some of your work!, my windows media player opened, and I waited....and waited. After 30 seconds I closed down the media player.

If I was waiting for a promotional video, you may want to consider the disadvantages of people needing to wait.

And I got FiOS and a fast computer. Think of those with dial-up or slower satellite or cable. The majority of internet users are now accustomed to streaming videos that play almost immediately and they may not have the time or patience to wait for your video.

BTW, I really liked the look of your site - clean and to the point.

Thanks for the feedback. I noticed also that this took a while to load. I wonder what I can do to cut down on this time?

Hopefully we will get some new photo equipment soon...and the picture quality will improve.

I did manage to get a good hit on Craigslist like you mentioned..outranked my site. I'm hoping to do same with Youtube, although I'm not very familiar with it...YET....

I figure by the time I get the next batch or two of pictures, I will be better at developing this stuff...like I said, I just can't believe I got all of the pieces together and it is (albeit slllllooooowwww) working on the website....

I think I will contact Ewing and ask for my celebratory cigar

Susan, thanks for a great idea! I had been waiting for the right job and time to videotape something for my site. It never even crossed my mind to make a movie with still pics! I made this real quick and will experiment some more!
First time I ever used youtube! Movie
Thanks!

The most efficient form of video compression is .avi - If you can encode your .wmv file to that then you could reduce it's size by around 75% without losing any quality. Remember though, the better image quality and resolution you use, the bigger the file will be. Youtube would be your best option as that streams the file rather than having the user load it first. You will also be able to embed the youtube video into your web page so that your visitors don't have to leave the site to watch it

Susanne, copy the code that's in the 'Embed' box on the right hand side of your youtube page and paste it into your web page (the web page code and not in the content) the video will play on the page.

A woman who paints AND smokes cigars? And you are only about 90 miles away!
