Is there anyway to make this site for serious professionals? Reading replies to some of the posts are a joke, and not inline to serious questions. -
Hey Nathan, I was wondering why Iwas'nt able to access the private messaging page? Thanks, GaryW

thanks for the courteous welcome to this site. Is the photos tab (second from upper left)for contractors websites, project pics theyve done or a photo gallery for people to look at? Theres only one "downfall" about this site......................it gets addicting! -

hi nathan,
My name's jordan, I've been on the site for a while but haven't posted much lately as I've had other things going on. My question for you is: is it against the rules to post a few pieces of gear for a one-time sale? I'm returning to school in the fall and only plan on working in summers on a limited basis in the future, and want to scale down a few things I no longer need. In particular I have a new-in-the-box graco 395 and a full set-up of infrared Silent Paint Removers I want to move. My back can't take hand-scraping anymore and I just don't need two sprayers if I'm contracting rather than expanding the biz. I have legit sales receipts, the gear is in primo shape, and I'm an honest guy. I just don't want to get banned, but I couldn't find anything in the rules against it in the FAQ. I know I've sold a few things on the John Bridge tile forum, their policy was it was okay contractor-to-contractor, just no retail sales or soliciting... Can you please get back to me on this issue? I'm keeping 90% of my gear. I feel a brotherhood with the other painters on here who have paid the same dues and would greatly prefer handing off the few things I want to get rid of to someone who will go out and make some money with them while I'm toiling in school. It's kinda like I'm giving away a dog and want to make sure it gets a good owner.... I'm also not trying to make a profit, I want to give another fellow contractor an excellent deal, maybe help someone else with their biz. The stuff doesn't have much value if it's not being used. With the seasonal aspect of working in seattle on top of the recession, I just don't see my business being viable long-term and think it's time to go back to school while I still can.
Any advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated,
thanks nathan,
sincerely,
jordan -
Hi Nathan
Happy New Year
i have just updated my parts website and added a whole line of OEM parts to it, thanks to PaintTalk the site has had a lot of views. I was wondering if you would mind if I drop a note in the forum about the new design that is about to be published. I have never pushed that agenda and do not wish to do so at any time unless the forum rules were to change. but it would be an opportunity to have some of the folks that have already seen it know that there are many more items now available. Whatever your decision I am happy to be a part of the forum and hope that my presence is of value to some of the members Thanks Jack Keough -
08-26-2009 12:20 PM - permalinkMike StarlingHi Nathan. My interest as editor of Professional Painting Contractor magazine is to keep up with what the pros are talking about, and to give them a voice in the magazine. I worked on a small crew for a res repaint guy while earning my journalism degree, and got back into the paint industry through the magazine 10 years ago. We're always open to suggestions and I look forward to hearing what's on the minds of paint company owners and getting their feedback on specific stories we are working on in the magazine. Thanks! Mike Starling
