06-24-2009 02:26 PM - permalinkPainter GirlHey,
I am sorry it has been so long. I have a new job and have not been able to get here as often as I should. The Rymar i have used is just the original formula. I have not used the Extreme version due to the higher cost of the product and the fact that it does not last any longer than the original.
I left the last job because of a lack of integrity on behalf of my employer so I am not sure what has happened on that Dawn wash job.
If I find out more, I'll let you know. -
Right on, I went to the U of U many years ago and loved it. Any specific program are you going into. Are you mariied, kids, do you have an apartment? I have a few one bedrooms that I rent out, and I can also give you some advice on good areas to live. My apartments are around 500 east 1700 south and the University is 1300 east 400 south, but there are alot of nice places close to the U and if you are single get on Craigslist and see if you can score a basement or mother-inlaw apartment from a professor. They typically live in some nice neighborhoods just North of the U.
Lots of great painting in Park City/Deer Valley pretty much the only place I will paint anymore. I got myself very involved with a few large resort properties up there that basically manage 500-600, $2,000,000 condiminiums for out of state owners. We were just contracting with the owners to do their repaints with high quality and FAST since these rent out for $1200 per night, so we had to stay on tight schedules. Awesome work and we would also do the exteriors of the main buildings and all of the interior hallways.
Damn company Premier Resorts took the owners money for Jan, Feb, March and didn't pay them and are now bankrupt owing 100's of vendors and employees money. Needless to say there is no money is their capital improvement funds and we are out about $100,000 in work already this spring. Since the owners haven't been paid their share of their rentals, they don't have money to paint their interiors so we are really getting hit there. It's gonna be a tough year here my friend and thats why I think it might be the time to take a sabatical for 18 months.
However I do have a partner and from what I have read of your posts and the work you do and ethic, I have no doubt he would be interested in throwing you some work if there was any extra to help suppliment the school thing. Sam -
Tsunami,
Hey hows it going? Right now I am currently located in Salt Lake City and mostly work about 25 miles away in Park City and Deer Valley.
Unfortunately I'm not sure if I will be living here in the fall. My mom just turned 80 and has Alzheimers and my dad is going blind, so I am feeling the pull very hard to move back to St Louis for 18-24 months to help transition them into the next phase of life..Who knows, they want the help but put up alot of resistance, which can be expected.
So why are you planning to move to Utah and where in Utah. Let me know the story and if you need any help getting set up or finding a place, finding out about licensing laws or anything of that nature.
Don't hesitate to ask....In our area things are slow in the painting world and there are alot of illegal workers. However, once things recover and get worked out, Utah can be a wonderful place to live and a wonderful place to paint and make some money. Keep me posted....Sam -
Not as busy as last year, we do a lot of NC. I do not know anything about Northern Utah, except there are way more painters advertising on CL there than here! Last time i was up there, looked like a lot of growth!

No, he didn't, but he did the crack sealing and resurfacing too.

I was wondering about pricing when you started that thread. The guy that did our school parking lot last month came from Nevada, said he does all of them, he said it is tough to do full time w/o travel. I thought the handicap lines were blue? School just got out for me, first day of summer vacation! Busy enough though.

Hey, at least he asked nicely! Let's see how long it goes! -
12-26-2008 12:38 PM - permalinkBrush and RollerHey- We missed an interesting thread with Dragula on christmas eve and day.
I've decided to get out of janesville, with gm closed now and Rock county having the worst unemployment rate in WI. I could be interested in moving to madison, but not to work for myself. Keep me in mind if you find yourself hiring for spring. I'd come up for an interview...
I'm really open to moving anywhere in the country where I can get ahead. Working for friends sucks! I barely have 2 nickels to rub together !! -
