Quick Humidor:
  1. Get a cooler with a good seal
  2. Get a small tupperware container
  3. Go to the florist and get a block of "oasis". (it's a green foam that hold water for arangements)
  4. Cut oasis to fit inside of tupperware
  5. cut some small holes or slits in lid of tupperware
  6. Add your favorite humidification liquid to the oasis. (or make your own, 50/50 distilled water and propolene glycol) Liquid helpd maintain proper humidification.
  7. put lid on tupperware, and tupperware in cooler.
  8. add cigars
  9. go to radio shack and buy a battery operated hygrometer. (gives you relative humidity in side humidor.)
You can do a similar thing with old ammo boxes. I lined one with spanish cedar and made an "Ammo-dor".

As far as what kind of cigars? See if you can get a "grab bag" from your cigar shop or mail order house. JR's also sells 5-cigar packs of many different brands.

Try a bunch until you find some brands you like. Here is a link to a bunch of samplers.

https://www.jrcigars.com/index.cfm?page=cigars

Go to the link. On the dropdown menu choose "samplers"

I love Partagas! #10 is one of my favorites. I have 2 cubans in the humidor. One is in a tube, was given 2 of them 6-8 years ago. Smoked it down so far that it was burning my fingers. (needed a roach clip..but that was another life) Just waiting for a special occasion to smoke the twin.

Used JR for years, but now mostly go to Famous Smoke Shop....they have great deals and their Cigar Monster.com area has multiple deals per day. Look into it. I still check out JR and pick up some specials, infact right now they have a 5 pack deal with one cost shipping no matter how many packs. I picked up some Casa Blanca churchills for a song. Don't smoke'm at work too often, sometimes a small one, but they're great for golf or fishing. pd

I wont buy any cubans here for fear of the phoney ones. It would piss me off to no avail buying a cuban only to find out it was some honduran POS

Same here BB, I was thinking the other day. That I probably won't ever smoke mine. Won't be able to say "ya, I got one in the box". If it were legal and had access to them would they be just as good? Do you like Indios?

Since I have still never figured out how to multi quote:

1. I've had the twin (gets up from desk and goes to humidor) Romeo Y Julieta for 6-8 years. It stays buried in the bottom of the humidor. It is also in an aluminum tube. I have the patience of an oyster.

2. I like Indios. Also am in no hurry to smoke it, and like you, may never. There are so many great cigars out there that IMHO are as good. I have also had a couple supposed Cuban's that sucked.

You know that many of the best growers/businessmen fled Cuba after Castro's takeover. A lot of knowledge went with them. That is one reason for so many good cigars. Cuba does not have a lock on talent.
