Default Closet organizers

I've spent the whole weekend installing racks and organizers in my wife's closet. It's hard to imagine this being as easy for a diy person as they advertise.

We were originally going to go with easycloset.com, but it was $4K for the parts. I ended up ordering the Martha Stewart stuff from home Depot for 1k. I've installed the easy closet stuff, and it seems the same. The difference was that I had to modify the modular units size to fit, but I figure it was worth the $3k savings.

I'm going to put a valence with crown around the tops and install 3" recessed led gimbals also for accent lighting. She also would like a center island, which I'm working on.

1905 Victorian house is not very level or plumb, which added to the fun.

Thumbs up

Not what I'd call a run-of-the mill closet. Very nice and a cool old house.

Nicely done. I ended up building then units and shelving for our master closet. Looks good but was a lot of work. Melamine can be a b---h to cut properly and work with.

4 or 5 years now we've been chipping away at this place. It's been challenging and expensive, but it is satisfying. I've pretty much finished the interior, outside of my own office. That is the next project.

After that, we're thinking about finishing the 3rd floor. We don't really need the space, but I like to stay busy. The exterior is tougher, because we have a small lot. I had ambitions to buy the neighboring house when they moved, but it wasn't the right time.

I also suspect that my ROI will be low to non-existent, but I'm building to live in, not to profit on. I'm not looking to move anytime soon.

I have a full shop setup, but while I can produce a better product, I can't do it for a grand. If I was in the position of more time than money, yeah.

Gotta pick your battles.

These guys are producing components assembly-line on CNC setups. I've got better uses of my time than building closet systems.

Yeah, when I made mine it was sort of a labor of love - I love being miserable. You made a good call.

Closet? That looks the size of my living room! Actually, bigger!

Looks great though.
