Default Hello and an update!

Hey all I hope you've had a great summer

Just wanted to fill y'all in on goings on (in case anyone wondered!) I'm not doing as many paint jobs as before -down to about 1 a month because my diversifying business kind of took off really well

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Rusti...8684886?ref=hl

I'll admit I am no carpenter but I'm learning quickly and getting lessons from an amazing journeyman carpenter when I need to know something. I know it would make most woodworking professionals turn in their grave but I suppose when I started refinishing the furniture - I really was beholden to what was on the market at the time - so the decision to attempt to build my own stuff was made.

And whaddya know - people seem to like it, it also gives me a chance to work from home doing something that I could only dream of!

Yes I love painting and will never give it up totally - but doing the furniture sure is kinder on the knees / back / arms etc etc etc

It does have a little to do with the mispronunciation of my last name

Nice work on the furniture. We have been tinkering with those types of finishes.

Nice Amanda. I can understand why there is a market for your furniture.

Great play on words with the Rustic Duck AND Hotwing. It's all clear now.

You should move to where I used to spend summers - Duxbury
(although pronounced "ducks-berry")

I never saw the Amanda part, that might have been my daughters name if I had ever had one( at least in my mind)

Bill I can't take credit for the username unfortunately. Hotwing is my husbands nickname and nothing to do with the surname either.

In his heady days of being an irresponsible teenager, he got too drunk and too close to a firepit (as in - fell in it)and set fire to his arm. Hence Hotwing

Impressive, all of it but I love the paint can lids.

I think many here can relate to some youthful antics based on alcohol and fire. One trip way up north in VT, around the campfire, I launched a bottle rocket from my pants pocket. Forgetting (only temporarily) that I had two packs of Black Cats in that pocket. The bottle rocket exhaust ignited those little 2 inchers.

Good thing I didn't end with the nickname of "Bang Pants"
