I was listening to Michael Smerconish all week on the radio as he read from the 911 commission's report.I found myself overwhelmed more than once with sadness and at other times anger.I still to this day believe not enough has been done to show our strength as a nation to all who show contempt.
I am also very disappointed in our media for always finding a way to show America in a bad light even on this day of remembrance.
I would love to see this day recognized as a national day of mourning. Not for a day off work, picnics and football, but to actually reflect and to not become complacent again!

One more thing.....can you believe we still have not decided what will be at ground zero????? Unbelievable!

Tough day here. My roommate at the time lost his brother who I was friends with as well. I played soccer with a team that lost 5 guys in the towers. My wife was working 3 blocks from the towers when they fell. Being only 30 minutes to the city, lots of people around here were hit very hard.
Never will forget that day!

It's my wifes birthday, 9-11. We've finished watching the first 5 seasons of Rescue Me, with Dennis Leary. Great show that goes into
9-11 from the perspective of fire fighters who experienced it and lost friends and loved ones.

I wonder where Osama bin Laden is.

Personally, I think he's dead. But, who knows? I thought we had a 25 million dollar bounty on him at one time. Seems like somebody would have found him by now. Maybe we should put Dog the bounty hunter on it.

a good time to mourn the civilian casualties caused by American military in Iraq and Afghanistan, not only American civilian casualties in America.

I wonder how many civilians were killed by Saddam?

chances are, whatever the number is, will be blown out of proportion by the media to authorize equal force and legitimate civilian casualties.

I guess comments like this is probably why this thread was so silent.

Dunbar, you are entitled to your own opinion but if you can't see the difference between the 2 then I really feel pitty for you my friend.

Both are civilian casualties, I am pretty sure I make the appropriate connection.

What I really thought was good about "Rescue Me" is that it wasn't really political. It was more about how it affected the people who actually experienced it, and were affected directly. To me, all the rest is just the same political stuff, using a situation to promote an ideological agenda.

Aaron, this was the reason I remained silent on this thread. It can still be a very emotional remembrance for some, therefore bringing alot of different views into play. Personally, I still have a hard time watching videos of the impacts.....leaves a very empty feeling inside of me.

X2

Two real good friends (husband and wife) were killed in a head on a couple of months back.......80 year old crossed the line in a big truck.

They were part of a 10 year old motorcycle forum I belong to. Of course there were hundreds of replies when the news was posted. I just choose to remain silent and deal on my own terms.

I wasn't offended by Aaron's comment, but not everyone needs to post to remember.
