Statement as of 12:50 PM CST on February 17, 2008

... Very dangerous winter storm with blizzard conditions will
affect the area through midnight tonight...

... Blizzard Warning remains in effect until midnight CST
tonight...

A Blizzard Warning remains in effect until midnight CST tonight.

Heavy snow will continue to fall generally east of a line from
Neillsville... through La Crosse Wisconsin in Wisconsin... to New
Hampton Iowa. Snow rates in the 1 to 2 inch per hour range will
persist through the afternoon hours. Total snowfall accumulations will
likely range from 6 to 10 inches... with some locations southeast
of a line from Mauston through Prairie Du Chien and Strawberry
Point receiving upwards of 12 to 16 inches of snow.

Northwest winds will increase and become quite strong across the
area this afternoon gusting to near 40 mph through this evening.
This will likely result in blizzard conditions. In addition... for
those that saw significant icing this morning... the strong winds
may create damage to infrastructure... in downed power
lines... extended loss of power... and downed trees. At this
time... we are particularly concerned with the areas between
Elkader Iowa and Arkdale Wisconsin.

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout
conditions... making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If
you must travel... have a winter survival kit with you. If you get
stranded... stay with your vehicle.

This was our weather one day last week. Ended up with 6 inches. Hows that for warm sunny Pittsburgh?

Wah Wah. Nobody likes a crybaby. No need for you to be jealous anymore, our little blizzard didn't pan out. The warning has been canceled. The weatherman was just up to his old tricks again, trying to scare us into submission.
