We have about 6 inches on the ground. Heading to Boulder City, outside Las Vegas for a little golf and sunshine tomorrow for the week, it has been snowing in Las VegasQ

We had somewhere between 4-8" here in SW MN. winds 35-45 winds chills to -45.

Got out in the truck today finally and still no plows.

State budget is way off so don't know what they will do.

Anyone who watched the Patriots game today, saw what we had. I'm just 3.5 miles away. It started snowing Friday at about 1 PM. Supposedly there were two storms, but I never saw when one stopped and the other started. Oh sure, yesterday was just a day of flurries, but still it was snowing. This morning the snow came in earnest once again and by mid afternoon when the temp was pushing 32, the snow was "stickier". It stopped sometime after dark.

All told, I'd say 18" of snow. Not bad for December where we are usually wondering if we will have a white Christmas.

And then Seattle had the worst snow storm in 12 years?

I think there really has been a shift in our climate patterns.

Aaron,

In other posts you seem intelligent, so I won't insult your intelligence by arguing back in the same tone you use to disregard this most serious predicament mankind is facing.

"Global Warming" although an accurate term for the world (globe) as a whole, it is a misnomer when one only sees smaller areas that are apparently being colder at odd times.

"Global Warming" aptly describes the melting of the polar ice caps and the retreating of many of Alaska's glaciers and the snow cover disappearing from such famous peaks as Kilimanjaro, but for those of us who only judge what we see, perhaps a more accurate term is "climate shift".

I don't know how old you are or if you have lived in one locale all your life, but my 59 1/2 years have been spent in Eastern Mass, with close ties to the coast. I know that our weather has changed, colder winters and hotter summers. I know that the seawater is rising (family property on the water in Duxbury MA). I am not the only person who has witnessed the erosion of our beaches and islands (more accelerated each year).

Evidence of a shift in climatology is when a place like Boston was pushing 60 degrees on December 16, drops to the single numbers on December 22, and will be in the mid-40's by the 27th. That's just not right.

Even those who were in denial for so many years are finally realizing the climate has changed and are accepting the science that proves it is caused by man.

I beg that you study the facts more openly and realize what is happening. Some believe it is too late to correct. If we continue to be in denial, that prediction will most certainly come true.

-Bill

It's funny that the world has been cooling for the last several years but that does not get mentioned. Nor does the fact the debate has changed from "Global Warming" to Climate Change".

Yes, there are areas where ice is retreating, but there are also areas of record expansion.

People on both sides of the issue ignore the other sides argument. Take the time to weigh all the facts. Then make up your mind.

This debate reminds me of communism or national socialism. (or the current far left nuts) If you have an opinion other than the accepted norm, you are destroyed.

For a change of pace did you watch the history channels piece on climate change this week end? (played several times)

Do you remember what happened to the NASA climatologist who dis-agreed with current global warming ideas. (fired)

Have you watched "the great global warming swindle" on you tube?

http://www.garagetv.be/video-galerij...tary_Film.aspx

Don't belive on side or the other on face value or because they provide a few facts.

Expand your mind.

Investigate.

Decide.

Well, one thing that everyone seems to agree on is that we are going through a period of global warming. The videos also state the scientific proof showing this is caused by humans is inaccurate

Those videos are produced to give evidence that human effected "Global Warming" is a conspiracy of a few scientists who want funding to continue.

Obviously one side or the other is in error.

These videos say that proof of Global Warming is not a scientifically sound, that there has been a rush to judgement, and imply that funding and politics are the motives.

They also speak of those who disagree with the current theories about humans causing climatic change are chastised and called charlatan - and likewise the producers of these Garage TV videos are calling the presently accepted theories a "swindle". I love it when each side KNOWS they are right and call the other side fraudulent. Reminds of the days of Christopher Columbus, "The Earth is round" vs "You'll fall of the edge". Or the early days of linking cancer to cigarettes

Either today's record population with it's thirst for energy consumption has caused a dramatic spike in climate change in the last hundred years, or this is just another slow and natural change that has been always happened over millennium as evidenced by pinpointing the temperatures in ice core borings and peat bog digs.

One of these theories is erroneous. I suppose we are faced with choosing which error we would feel more comfortable making.

You forget it wasent really that long ago your sience folks thought the earth was flat... I wrote these words long ago (paote days,,,) it makes sence now.. The hand of man has left a creed, One cannot undo his deed, Writen into the soul of creation, The air he breathes is abomanation, Rain that burns the skin below it, Waves that take his life to show it, On ears that fail as do his deeds, Creation clearly states the needs,,, Take no more and leave no less, Heed these signs its to your best, With eye on one and hand on another, Man clearly states I am only a hunter, The more I have the more I need, And missed the sign that killed the seed, Once its gone youll see no more, The chain lie broken on the floor, The hand of man has left a creed, His childrens children to pay the deed, With hearts of hope that times still there, Theyll search for wisdom to repair, On ears that hear but now too late, Creations cries the final state, Give no more take no less...

Someone recently suggested that we substitute "the weather" every time we read "climate change". He also suggested reading aloud while doing this. You might be surprised how it sounds.

Am I the omly one taught about global cooling and the coming ice age in the early 70's?

How about how the world was going to end from the "PopulationBomb"? What happened to that?

Both were accepted science at the time. (don't forget Y2K!)

The sky is falling!

I'd submit to you that these are accredited scientists that only want to compete in the arena of ideas.

One video uses facts to disprove some of Al Gore's stories from Farehnheight 911.

They are voices in the wilderness that do not get heard.

Being open minded usually means taking all sides into account. Then forming an opinion.

Humans are lazy by nature. Give them an easy way or a hard way to accomplish something. They will normally choose the easy way.

Unfortunately, that also applies to how they form opinions.

Bender

No good can come of this. In a recent thread I spoofed on some of the more entertaining concepts that have arisen on painttalk in '08 and a respected member was deeply offended, citing volumes of imaginary emails from members too afraid to post because of comments I had made about the $200 room revolution. You, my friend, are about to have your moral compass recalibrated.
