Default Don't let you be misunderstood

I'd like to make a friendly suggestion without pointing fingers.

Before anyone hits the "submit" button, would you please re-read your post and make sure it reads smoothly. Make sure you have not left out important words or mistakenly used "there", "their", "they're", or "to", "two", "too", or "for", "four", "fore" or "ore", "oar", "or", etc

I find myself too often lately scratching my head and wondering what the heck the poster is trying to convey. If we can't understand your intent, we can't help. Sometimes it sounds like the writer is hammered.

A simple read-through before posting will catch many of these stupid errors.
(and we have an "edit" button that can be used hours later to correct mistakes that slip by. Which will always happen )

OH, and if your spelling is as atrocious as mine, there are browser ad-ons that will spell check these internet text windows.

For Internet Explorer I believe Ispell is what you need.

I use Opera browser, and use GNU Aspell

Firefox users can go here to read options for spell checking.

And I think safari has one built in ??????

Thanks for your consideration and interest in being understood.

oh, thank you so much for this post. My MacBook checks spelling in all applications in all windows which is nice. But seriously, read the title of the site, PROFESSIONAL PAINTING CONTRACTORS FORUM. Lets keep it professional. Would you deliver a bid or contract with the same spelling and grammar that is often used on this site?

And I know the futility (and even hypocrisy) of being a grammer or spelling nazi, but I would just like to remind folks to re-read their posts at least once before posting. Thanks Tim, I'm happy someone was kind enough to acknowledge knowing the obvious inspiration for my thread title. Truth be told, I had forgotten Cocker had done such amazing version ...... don't ask me how, musta been a senior moment.

Yeap, I remember those days. We had a local BBS here in Portland. Back when ANSI characters were still being created to have "fun" colorful stuff in your text etc... Those were the days. If I remember right it was about 92-93 just after I got out of the Navy.

I do agree with the OP. I always preview my posts and do spell check (Firfox built in) before I hit submit. I even reread it after I post just in case I forgot to preview it... but have been on forums for almost 6 years and am well practiced.... I hope.....

You aint not be crying bout trivial things such as writin skills on the internet? be like walkin in a place and not take to the way folks dress and givin them a opionated theoryized load a crapp bout it, when I spell on paper its more gooder than typin, its hard, so I shortin things if I can, ya can still get the point, unless your really illitorate.

Some stuff here I've found quite poetic... plus, you know kind of who you're dealing with when you read their posts!! I don't have a spell check so I only use words I know how to spell. Keeps things simple.
I haven't been around here for a while though so I might have missed some real gems.

Well MAK and Jason, you guys were definitely more at the vanguard than I. I remember a friend on Cape Cod with a Tandy computer that used a CASSETTE TAPE to load programs. That had to be in the 80's. It was only ASCII then. The modem consisted of a cradle for the phone's handset. I do remember seeing the set-up, but it was too much for me because I was more interested in partying.

Yah got that right. Sure can judge someone by their willingness to be coherent. Gets to a point now where I don't even waste my time reading some people. Kind of like a social gathering, if an individual wants to fart and belch and pick and stink, people will steer clear. The individual makes that choice.

I have noticed that you are not responding to any of my stuff lately. I will try to clean it up.
