Default How About....

A new PT law stating that a new member must make 100 posts before they spam the crap out of every thread with their website, social media or blog?

This place is being used as a SEO tool now.

I've noticed it as well. I think part of it is that it is the "trend", everyone trying to revamp for the spring.
For every one you guys see, we ban several.
Sometimes it is a judgement call, and those are the hardest to make.

I say no signature links until 8000 posts. Content links can start at 4000.

That's why if there is a rule in place you dont have ot make a judgement call. 100 posts are not much and you should be able to tell be 100 if someone is just here to spam or participate.

That is all I'm gonna say: the last time I made site suggestions I had to take a year sabbatical only to return to see them all implemented.

Ok, if you are going to threaten like that! You can moderate the "rapid fire post to get 100" guys and it's a deal!

And no two words posts like I do. Or haiku like George Z. We need real posts.

Chris' (NEPS) OP is a very valid point. I'd like for all to stay on subject and discuss it. The Mods are discussing it in the smoke and booze impregnated back room.

Just so everyone knows my stance, I did post this in that den of debauchery:

"On a number of other forums, there is a limit one must reach before they can do all sorts of stuff. One of the benefits of being an "established" member is a link in either the sig or the body.

IMO, if that is a direction we want to go, then consider if that limit were around ....say, 25, some asswipe would post 25 quick posts of pure crap, yet on the other hand, if it were 100 posts, would we be denying a legit contributor.

Yes, we see a lot of asswipes who are here to only build links and SEO. No one likes being taken advantage of, yet we do not want to throw the baby out with the wash water.

IMO, a limit of, oh, 50 may be a decent compromise.

I agree with the sentiment that asks for this, but I also see bad mojo as a result of implementing it too harshly.

It's a dicey decision".
