This place is much like a job site it is filled with egos, attitudes, skills, humor and jabs.

My suggestion is to treat others new or old how you want to be treated and remember that none of us know it all so even if one question may seem basic the same member can still teach you something that you know little about.

That's a pretty good analogy, Work.

Like everyone else, I can think of someone I've worked with in the past that echos pretty much every type of personality on this board.

Except of course for daArch..

(I ain't never worked with ANYBODY like him, if I had.. I'd sure as hell remember it)

Thank you Steve.

Intended or not, I'm taking that as a compliment. Us painters turned paperhangers ARE NOT like anyone else.

And what great about working with me, is you never know WHO will show up.

Yes...it was intended as a compliment, more or less.

(I was mostly teasing)

This is definately the most entertaining post ive read so far

As a newbie I thought i would add my 2 cents.

Im one of those guys that for some reason just invites you to bust chops and its been that way since the first day i walked onto a jobsite.

As PressurePro said, Its part of the business and I have'nt seen anything yet that compares to what actually takes place "on the job".

Also, as DaArch said in my intro post, there is always some truth in bustin chops. So i think as long as it is followed up by some helpful advice, you either swallow it or go back to Google.

otherwise your asking lions to act like lambs.

Also, Im open to some "nurturing"

I just wanted to add a couple thoughts to my previous reply.

I would think, just to pull a number from my arse, that 99% of the people who come through here are just looking for a quick answer to a question and have no intention on staying. And on that note, if you want maintian a "profesional painters" only forum, bustin chops is definatley a way to weed out those who are not used to this type of banter.

For those who are serious, you could add some type of **warning** to the "new to paint talk" post, sorta explaining what has been said here, that this is no different than a job site and what to expect. Also, you could be more clear to new members on what questions typically get the responses your trying to eliminate.
