DaArch / JP: Can y'all copy and paste what y'all received? I want to make sure my grammer was correct. Just kidding - but I am curious about the coincidence.

This is what i got. I am deleting e-address and phone number, I am sure they were spoofed:

Quote:
(from) Karly

email: *****@aol.com

Telephone no.: 978-***-****

MESSAGE:
You call yourself a Professional? I've seen your work and it's awful!! My friend showed me what you did. I would NEVER use you for ANY type of work. Maybe painting a doghouse or the bottom of a boat, but that's it. Spread the word, your work is atrocious!

I am looking at writing style - no matter how someone tries to be anonymous, there are always tidbits that they own.

Like:

capitalized "Professional"

the double exclamation marks

the "doghouse" and "bottom of a boat" has me interested

This person is articulate. Uses good sentence structure and spelling. Which is why I do not think it is a "peach fuzz brat"

Who uses "atrocious" ?

Very interesting. To be honest: quit wasting your valuable time worrying about it. However, please keep us updated on your detective work

I must admit i say that sometimes out in the real world or when dealing with my atrocious kids. I would probably use it here to but then I would have to learn to spell it.

lol! We got a household rule here at the house: You are not allowed to say it if you can't spell it. Needless to say, I am down to 1 syallable words

Little wanna-be hackers generally use good sentence structure.

A lot of kids in high school can write very eloquently actually.

However it sounds like you have other reasons that eliminate that possibility.

I searched for "doghouse". And the only thing that came up was this link:

https://www.painttalk.com/search.php?searchid=259245

Which only consists of posts from this very thread.

I searched for "dog house", and only this link came up:

https://www.painttalk.com/search.php?searchid=259219

And the only people who used "dog house" in a qualitative (not architectural) capacity were:

Wisepainter, ProWallGuy, Bikerboy, and d'aArch himself!

The thought plickens...

yah. You're right. A waste of time. I'm only validating the punk. I guess like the rest of the American public, I'm too caught up in the Crime Scene genre dramas. I'm blaming it on reading the Hardy Boys and Shelock Homes as a kid

And who has used "atrocious" ? ME, for one. along with Wise, Verm, PWG, plain, dragula, tsunami, CA, etc etc etc. That clue's a dead end.....unless of course I punked myself. Drove the two hours up to Newburyport just to start a troll

Actually, this thread was just a fishing expeditioan to see if anyone else had been punked by the same type of email. Looks like John and I just real special type of guys.

Have you considered the possibility that you and John are actually fractured identities of the same self? Sending notes to yourselves to express some kind of deep-rooted anguish from your past life?

Personally, I think it was Workaholic in the study, with the candlestick.

Ya know, there are people who do that. They create aliases on forums and then argue with their own alter ego. On the old usnet RC group I saw nasty flame wars between guys and them own sleves. Pretty funny once I was let in on the spoof.

What was the outcome of this? I know my name was dragged through the mud and even got some crap on another board about it. Did you find the culprit?

I heard on another forum that you confessed when confronted with your own ip address.
