Default NO more drailing threads

huge problem here ................like a forum full of ADD painters , maybe this will also solve the problem of the stupid questions an stupid answers issue were dealing with now............up to the MODS on how they want to deal with it but id say a vast majority of other forums practice this in one way or another............thread here starts out about brushes and ends up talkin about BBQ's 1 page later lol ............

suggestions: (brainstorming)

1- MOD warning once thread goes a stray
2- flat out DELETE the dumb comments (25% of my replies)
3- PM'd warning to repeat offenders

MODS are just as guilty of this as members.....maybe that's the problem, members see leadership (for lack of a better word ) doin it an then follow suite thinkin its acceptable

I've been on a ton of forums. They all have threads that stray, especially the more social ones. Its like if a bunch of us got together. One guy mentions the game last night, the next guy mentions how his wife complains about his watching sports and in two seconds we are talking about how much a pain-in-the-azz wives can be.

I'd be a little annoyed getting warnings about being relevant to the letter in a thread. I would stop coming here altogether if mods started subjectively deleting posts at random. I can police myself though I do understand where you are coming from, Ole. It can get hard to follow and the back and forth bickering in a thread should be addressed. I think the mods here do a good job.

Isn't that Geoff Peterson on the late late show with Craig Furguson hilarious?

Ok, back on track!
You do have a good point Ole, and there are posts deleted, sometimes we get them so quick you never see them. And we do send pms and warnings on occasion.
We do try and nudge a thread back on track, and we are just as guilty of derailing threads. Like Ken said, it's like a get together, and we tend to let it flow, until it goes too far. A lot depends on the topic, and sometimes we will just move it to off topic.
Like I said earlier, none of us mods like being "the police". It's hard to find the happy medium!
Maybe we need to encourage more members to report a post? Or maybe if more members could try to steer the train back on the track?

I'm thinking CFL might be better than the NFL. NFL players are turning into a bunch of pansies, boo hooo, "he ruffled me and I'm the quarter back" "I'm telling, I waved my hand for a fair catch and now I'm feeling are hurt"

BACK ON TRACK ??!?!?! CRAP !

Threads drift. That's almost rule number one of internet discussions. I ain't about to be no Thread Drift Nazi. We would chase 99% of the members away.

Tides ebb and flow. Life takes divergent paths. Have a conversation with the family at the dinner table and see how long it stays on track.

This ain't no scripted Hollywood production.
