Default AngiesList / Unbelievable

This is a post from a user at angieslist, You have to read this.

Post "The bottom line is convince, Its not rocket science to paint. but there are people who don't like to paint and there are those who do. But because you choose to hire a person or two to do the work it doesn't mean you have to pay like your paying a Pablo Picasso. You want a room painted average 12X12 2Hrs. @ 30.00 per hour, = $60.00 contractor wants to charge $200.00 per room do the math who's kidding who. Contractors pays workman Comp Ins. 12.5 per day for a full time employees, so for 2hrs its 3.60 per Hrs. Over head Brushes, Roller, Tape Etc. 25.00 per room & Paint 1 Gal 30.00, so $81.40 profit is paid to the company after all expenses on every room. The math can be done, honest pay for honest work. If you wanted to get rich, painting could or is not the way But it could be if you have 10 employees who work 40 Hrs. per week every week. Than you can sit back and make 850,000 a year profit. Not bad for running a successful painting company at 200.00 a room."

Frank seems like the type of person who lives in a small town where rent is $800 for a house.

For those who don't click the link...angieslist made a blog and was supporting professional painters.
I
"The total cost of hiring a painting contractor will be more expensive than doing it yourself, but you can expect a job with clean lines, no brush marks and no paint drips. Especially if you're doing more complex work, such as multiple colors on the same wall or a large amount of detail work, the improved skill and time saved in personal labor is often worth the cost."

Then this frank guy comes along and said what's in the OP post

Who cares what average Frank thinks. His numbers as far as time and money don't match any successful painting business. If I was to listen to this kind of people, I'd be somewhere in Siberia painting prison gates .

It's not rocket science until Frank tries to live on $60/day. Frank does dashboard billing. Line your bills accross the dash and see if this one job will pay for the bills and buy a case of beer....it's not rocket science.

This guy won't last long but will ALWAYS wonder how the "expensive" guys stay in business? ..kinda glad we aren't on Angies List, seem like some real intellegent pros in the comments. ...lastly, you can't fix stupid. Anonymous.

When this kind of stuff happens to the independent paint dealers it's just called competition. We deal with it. You try.
