In that 4.5hrs he did 2 doors and one frame in oil. I don't think it was 2 coats. Maybe it was in good condition, required no patching and the colour was to match existing, so it only needed one coat.
Let me give the exact details, sorry i was a bit confusing.
1/2 door and jamb
1/2 fluted jamb
(Can't put 2 coats of oil on the same day anyway
Plus even if i had to paint 2 complete doors/jambs, it should only take someone 20-25 minutes per door and jamb
Ceiling was 1 coat flat
walls were 2 coats hi-hide eggshell
The walls and trim were in great shape, only needed a few cracks caulked, etc
All furniture was already moved and floor was covered.
I may have charged more than some of you charge. Homeowner's didn't mind, actually gave a 40 tip, and i went back last week and painted their kitchen and dining room ceiling.
I'm not going to give up, I'll keep trucking, trial and error. I'll do more research, and look into some estimate software or class online.
I've been painting for 14 years for a couple family memeber's, i am 30, i'm sure i can get the estimating down better.
