Anyone going?

Just wondering if any of you will be attending the PDCA Residential Forum advanced shoptalk at the end of this month? I attended the first three and found them to be some of the best seminars I've ever been to. The "best of the best" in the industry are usually in attendance and share everything. For me, I've found its about the best value you will ever spend on education in this industry.

I'll be there, so anyone coming or thinking about it?

Absoultely would love to. Vegas as well.
Even considering the return that would come of it, not sure I can invest in the total expense just yet... I hate it really I would like to go and bring someone with me as well for the education benefit.

Plain and simple the company is just not prepared for this in a few different aspects as of now. Time.

Yea what John said. In other words I have to work, I would love to go to any of these events. I have always put off joining the PDCA.

Rob and I are planning on the Vegas one.

I'd love to go to the Vegas one too.

Would be a real trick getting to go w/o the wife though.

Cool! The last convention I went to was in Vegas. About 2004 if I remember correctly.

Might just have to make a point of going to the next one then.

Trust me, unless she is involved in the business, she will find it about the most boring thing out there. I took the last wife to a convention in Reno and all she did was complain about how there was nothing for her to do. I was busy all day soaking up all that I could at the seminars, while she sat in the hotel room.

Steve Richards 09-13-2011 07:40 PM

My wife would be sitting alright...but not in the room.

Couldn't imagine being bored in Reno or Vegas. I would be more worried about not getting into trouble. :whistling2:

Booked Vegas already and it's $70 off until the end of the month. PDCA event was very good last year in Orlando, my first. Plus a nice break from New England's weather.

Come on down it's an investment in your company and yourself.

Long story, but she just sat in the hotel room (most of the time) waiting for me to come back at the end of the day to entertain her. She insisted on coming knowing it was a business trip. I wasn't going to waste the opportunity and investment of going to the convention by skipping half of the events.

Steve Richards 09-13-2011 07:53 PM

Short story.

Took our son to Vegas, I took him to a concert the 1st night, while my wife went to the casino. Came back to the room...all our cash had already been gambled away.

RCP 09-13-2011 07:58 PM

It's a short drive to Vegas for us, the casino/smoke/crowd scene lost it's appeal long ago, we like to stay off strip and avoid the crowds. But everyone should walk the strip at least once, a study in humanity!

Before I met my wife I was in a relationship with a girl for 5 yrs. Told her I was going to a seminar in Denver Thursday thru Saturday. I lied. Just meeting up with some buddys to party. Got in town about 7pm and about 10pm there's a knock on the door. She decided to fly out and spend the weekend with me. Man, I didn't know what to do. Hardly slept that nite wondering how I was going to make this work. Got up early the next morning went down to the lobby and there on the placard was a seminar for some group about something which I had no idea about. Woke her up to tell her I was going to the seminar and she decides to go with. Oh well, I walk into the seminar looking like I belong, take a seat with her beside me, and proceed to be totally bored out of my friggin mind. By lunch time, the guy at the podium saves my butt when he outlines the agenda for the next 3 days. She tells me that it was a complete waste of her time to fly out as I wouldn't have any time for her at all. "Yes dear, I understand....." She fly's out by 5pm. Buddy's get in town by 8pm. Had a great time.

The moral of the story: Every once in awhile the Big Guy upstairs will pull your butt out of a jam.

How long is your drive, were bout 4-5 hours out.

RCP 09-13-2011 08:34 PM

It's about 3 hours. We got married there almost 30 years ago, we were living in Cali at the time. Got coupons for free pizza and champagne and then headed to Utah to camp for a week. Place sure has changed!

HA! My wife and I got married there too, minus 17 years. I tell my wife we got married at circus circus and it been a circus ever since.

Steve Richards 09-13-2011 09:00 PM

Wow...your marriage is a circus too?!

HA

We had a friend that openly "turned her nose up" at us for getting married in Vegas.

actually, several people did.

Our marriage has outlasted all of theirs.
