Thumbs up BM Service

Had a customer on an exsterior having a hard time with color selection. I finally get an email with a color confirmation for the trim. So I pick up two gallons of Aura and start running trim. On the way home I get a text. "Trim is the wrong color" I look at the email again and the reciept from the paint store to confirm. I had it right. I bought 2 gallons of AF-170. Color they emailed me was AF-170. So I call the customer and he did take full responsibilty for the mistake, but he wants AF-180 instead and was more than willing to cover the extra cost. Ok, all is well. Then he goes back online and looks at BMs website. I guess the two colors are reversed on the site. I couldnt find it, but he printed it. I mentioned this to my BM rep and without any debate he said to send him an invoice for my labor and the paint. Now thats service! And I will remember this.

It's all in the service. They suck when the suck and they shine when they shine. You got a good rep you need to hang too.

I called the BM rep for my area and got no response, 6 months ago...

They told me that she is just "that way".

Bummer. Mine calls me to see how things are going and stops by my jobs from time to time too.

I don't have one and when I asked for one they said he would call me. Still waiting 2 years later. I won't buy without having a rep. Luckily my Vista Paints supplier is now a dealer. So I have one now, just not through a BM solely store. I was excited. I've bought more BM in the last month than I have in my whole career. Mainly due to colors. Not wanting to wait for a match.

The best way to judge a company is not necessarily when things go well, its when they go wrong. I love handling problems. It gives the opportunity to come out looking like a champ. People remember the bad situations more often it seems. So any chance you have to turn something negative into a positive will benefit you in the long run.

Glad it all worked out well Wood.

I know man, we don't have any specific contractor reps in our area. We have our dealer Rep who does both, or tries to. He probably has at least 35 stores to deal with, plus the contractors from each of those stores.

Here in Vancouver BC we have the company General Paint, my sales rep for GP calls and texts me regularly. HE gives me deals on ladders, and other equipment, comes to my job sites and writes up product sheets for me to give to customers. HE will even do a product consultation with a customer while I do my bid in order to help me get the job.

I'm not one to judge BM by the individual dealers, but I have yet to find one that tries as hard as S.W. does to keep me happy and giving them my business.
The worst was a Father and Son team in s. Florida...total ego trips.
Although when I expressed my love for Corona brushes while purchasing spec paint, I was turned onto their new polyamide roller cover. Good move, I respond well to free stuff.
However when I was working on a baby strip comm. build out I had to walk over to the WalMart for lacquer thinner (shared parking lot), when I returned an S.W. rep showed up and said he saw my S.W. shirt and followed me...creepy I know.
That confirmed my love for S.W. he was doing rounds looking for on the job painters.
I wish I had you around NCPaint1, these local old school BM dealers are not warm, friendly, or interested in my business...

Wise its not the company, its the people. Around me SW goes after some guys and never calls others, and some they just plain pi$$ off.

The one thing I've learned, is how to read people. Some like the phone calls, the demos, and want to be chased, others don't want to be bothered. When they want/need something, they'll ask.

Trying to find it myself and I can't either - If you could take a peak at what your customer printed, let us know.

If you click on the right arrow twice from when your on AF-170 you get AF-180 like you should.

Yeah, I have it in my truck. I will see if I can pull it up and post it tommorow. As for the "Aura"? I still think its awesome stuff. And Sherwin-Williams? Been using it for years and will continue to do so. My SW rep is also very good. Oh yeah....I have more SW shirts than I can count.

real nice, just wondering what you charged for those garage doors . Not really sure I'm a fan of them being the house color. It's allot of green.

I would trim the vent out if it was me.

Also it seems like things are going pretty good for you, It just seemed like yesterday where you were asking about the paintshaver and only had the one job that had a lot of nasty sanding.

Glad to see things looking good for ya
