Default Deck Stains

Looking for some feed back on Sikkens Cetol SRD deck stain as well as Super Deck Stains. New pressure treated next to a lake. Used Super Deck before but it has been awhile and didn't know if the product has changed much.

Thanks!

You're exactly right about the Sikkens Cetol SRD. If you over-apply, (more than 1 heavy coat), it will leave a film, and any place where that film is present is bound to fail.

I would like to hear from you Boco after your Tuesday application. Yeah just like Super Deck you don't want to over apply. What ever I use it will be a brush and roller application.

Thanks!

I've heard the new sikkens is crap. I've had good success with flood, and just recently did a house with 3 decks and a pergola, and lattice(dark chocolate brown) with Dulux wood pride emulsion. Worked like a dream, washed the decks with tsp, rinsed, then a light wipe with lacquer thinner to bring the grain up.

I havent heard back from HO about the deck. Using sikkens was his choice. Had to reschedule. i have only done 2 decks this summer one with VT naturals which came out nice. The other was with olympic rescue it which looks great. So far and is holding up to light foot traffic but is covered from rain and exposure. I still havent gone back to apply a second coat.
