I worked for a guy like that once many years ago, as soon as he issued paychecks, it was like a nascar race to get to the bank, usually only the first two or three checks cleared!

There is no egg to wipe...... Here's the background :
I do work for myself and am a state lisensed contractor but I don't have "guys" that was meant to say "guy" singular as in one guy and he's not my emplyee he's my partner. We run on a right budget but we just started out.I am honestly shocked at the responses I got I don't need a lesson on how to run a business and don't care how you guys run yours. I know I'm a square dude and a straight shooter some months have been week to week some haven't I do have the money but that money is earmarked for other things . I was being mellow dramatic about the money and was venting about not getting a check when I was told it would be here...... So why don't the last 10 posters wipe the egg off THEIR faces and cut me some slack I just wanted to vent a bit about something that is a common occurrence in all trades which is not getting a check when you were told you'd have one.... The end

I've never bounced a payroll check or any other checks. Except when I was 21 and thought checks meant endless money. Judge sent me to accounting class. I learned how to balance a check book. Now I know how many monies I have, so I won't bouncey again. Its simple math, just add and subtract. If you need help PM me.

"I have to tell my guys no check today."...Now it's not guys and this ONE guy is your "partner"?....Sounds like you are changing your story to do a little damage control...whatever.

No need to get so upset, you will come to learn on this forum that the guys here are brutally honest, and that comes in handy when a member really needs some help. We get that you were venting, and we have all been there, or close at some point, but we also get that this is a place to find ways to improve your business. There is a lot of good information here that will help you to position yourself to be in a place where this does not happen. Think of it as "tough love".

No backpedal and I'm not offended...... I have alot to learn and that's why I'm here...... I did go buy that pump I just hate using monies set aside for other stuff ..... Well actually I hate explaining it to my wife . Lol , on a bonus note she gave me a second pump for free.... It's an older graco eh333 had been sitting 3 years but it had thinner in it and it pumped right away! The eh333 is really a cool rig I may keep it and sell the 695! It puts out 1 gpm plus it came with 200 feet of line. Also gave her an extra $30 for a case of 1.5" masking tape,6 boxes of plastic and 25 rolls of 12" paper.all in all not a bad way to spend $130 and the wife wasn't even pissed lol

Exactly, which is why I wondering if it was him being funny or he didn't know, which would have been REALLY funny. Only he knows the exact relationship between him and his guy(s?)

Besides, if they are employees they surely don't have any taxes withheld so it evens out for them
