A young New York area painter was turning out some fabulously finished pieces of millwork and cabinets from his converted chicken coop studio. With occasional blemishes, which he convinced clients were intentional and desirable, caused by stray chicken eider. At first members of the City's elite avante-garde referred to the work as chicken coop. It wasn't long until they shortened the word to chicken....and finally one Nile Rodgers Jr. referenced the young artisan's work as CHIC, and it stuck.

Now you know. You read it on the innernets, so it must be true!!!
Funny...You had me going there for more than a moment with your fictional account and almost believable spin on how the term Chic came about...here I am googling Nile Rodgers trying to find who the artisan finisher was, wanting to see some of the chicken coop finishes. Good one Lightningboy..

You were on a circular errand...the artisan of whom you speak is yourself!!!

I was just watching some Voodoo Child covers as well as some Hendrix live versions just before you posted this, a couple of the covers by Orianthi and another by YouTuber Sima B. It’s one of my favorite Hendrix songs and guitar songs in general. I also saw Stevie Ray just before he died.
Jimi is one of my Favorites and Voodoo Chile tops the list.

Based on that upper right hand corner it almost looks like there’s wallpaper underneath? Or is that the drywall delaminating?!

Haha cool to see so many replies. Sorry I can't be more help yet.

Yeah it was a Very small bathroom, a sink, toilet and shower. No trim, just walls and ceiling. I'd do it for 250 easy if not for them walls.

I was in a rush when I looked at it after trying to clean up from restoring her kitchen and then rushing to an estimate. so not 100% sure what was up.

I'm about halfway sure there's no wallpaper under that amazing artwork on the walls 😉. I think she said it was some type of DIY sponge paint kit she did over a decade ago. I think she explained but I was in a rush and not paying attention.

I don't know and that's why I posted the pictures 😀

I did end up quoting her to do the bathroom and a tiny 4x4 hallway needs wallpaper removed for 1200 labor a materials. Supposed to do it after New Years.

I think It could be a decent job, I'm not sure yet. Just seems like a lot of work. Her and her husband are real sweethearts though, just like 99% of my customers. I'm just happy to be working. money in this business is earned.

It won't make or break me.

I'll update if I remember and even if I do them crazy ****ing walls.
