Only if Wolf will be mine. I need someone's wisdom to pawn off as my own.

Hey maybe we should have a Painttalk convention or something. Somewhere we can all come together and actually meet each other in person. Like in olden times. Heck I'll even host it at my store. It's right across the street from the local police department and has easy access to the hospital, er, freeway.

A few things you guys should know about Cricket:

She is a very pro-active Admin. And a very protective Admin of this forum and it's members. That's right; members.

When she's had enough, she has had enough. Like I said, she has the aces up her sleeve. You are not going to win.

She has brought so many improvements and new ideas to this forum. A lot of us old timers have been skeptical of some of them but, dammit, they've worked and are really neat additions.

Realistically, she's exactly what this forum has needed for quite some time.

Contrary to the beliefs of some, none of the Mods, or Cricket, take any enjoyment in banning members or established members. It isn't a decision that is based on personal differences or anything of the sort.

We have, for the most part, some really great members here. It doesn't matter what their experience or skill level is. Just need to toughen up the skin, get a sense of humor, and show some mutual respect to each other. Yeah, we all think we're the greatest painters around, but the same egos that let us believe that probably need to either be toned down or set aside while interacting on PT.

Most of us went into business because we thought we knew how to own a business. If what your doing is what's working for you and something that another person is doing works for them, no matter how different, let them do it.

Take a minute and read some of Pressure Pro's threads. Never a derogatory comment to anyone. Same with Bill and Tim in the Wallcovering Section. Great and helpful advice and again, nothing derogatory. A whole lot of members on this forum like that.

Nothing wrong with having fun. We all have different senses of humor. And due to that, it really does help to have some thick skin. What was put out there as a humorous reply, may be interpreted as a slam when that was not it's intention.

And then there's the ego thing. Just leave them at the door. Hard to believe but first impressions go a long way with others here. Imagine that.... Find a forum "mentor" if your unsure. It does work and you can develop some great relationships. I know it's hard to believe, but Bill was mine.....lol. But, I truly believe that despite all the miles that separate us, if I ever needed anything, Bill would be the first one of the first one's there. (Sorry if I ruined your forum rep Bill).

You people have fun, be safe, and take care. I don't comment much anymore, but still read and still learn from some of the advice given.

Wolf
Well, I have no delusions that I am the best painter. A lot of what I have doing for the past 2 1/2 years has been on the job training. Luckily I know my limits and ask lots of questions of members and the guys at my paint store so I know how to get the job done. Thanks to all of those that have helped on the past. And finally, I was scared s%@tless when I started my business; had no idea what I was doing. The guy that I was working for virtually had to push me into it. But, things are going great--booked for the next four months.

Just goes to show that even someone two and a half years in can be successful, a little skill, a little determination, and a lot less beer drinking goes a long way. The trades are funny like that. Congrats pete, thats great!

Again, you are a Mod, you need to set the example. Or, maybe you need to step down. On Facebook, I don't read threads as such from the staff, and Facebook has millions of members. Maybe you need to unbutton your collared shirt and breath a little.

If post count determines intellect level on a painters forum, I guess you got me beat... I am still trying to figure out how, (momma bear, ace card up her sleeve & butt-hurt) validate your position on a professional painting contractors forum?

Maybe my post count has me confused, are we on the elementary school finger painting forum?

Wolf, remember, "humility" and "sense of humor"!

In this community members are expected to treat each other with respect at all times.

There will always be disagreements and fusses between members. It is simply human nature. We truly encourage members to discuss and openly share their thoughts on a topic. It is how we all learn and life would be pretty boring if we all felt the same way.

That being said, this is not grade school. We don't gang up in little groups to take sides or encourage others to do the same.

If you were at a local get together and got into a disagreement with someone, I am guessing you would take it outside instead of ruining the party for everyone. I expect the same here.

If you are not able to discuss a topic respectfully then you need to remove yourself from the topic. If you are unable to discuss a topic with a specific member then you need to choose to ignore that member or take the discussion off the boards. If you are unable to do either of these things, I will help you to do so. https://www.painttalk.com/f50/respect...mmunity-28541/
We have one of the best moderator teams on the net. I will not allow them (or any other member) to be disrespected in this community.

This thread is now closed.
