There is a sense of entitlement where someone can come on here and post yet another situation where they are in over their head and have no idea what to do and either: A) Sit back and field suggestions that pt contributors make, and refute them as they come, or B) sit back with a smile and say "well my rep better come up with something on this one". Its a lack of accountability that is disturbing. You break it, you fix it. Its a good old fashioned value. And as painters, there is nothing more unsettling to a homeowner than to see you create a finish problem that you do not know how to fix. Parading reps around the house isn't the best damage control. Blaming products is a cop out.

Accountability starts before you even estimate the job, much less do the job. The idea is to research the job before you do it, not after. Look at substrates, conditions, process and product, and make sure it is all executed properly from start to finish. Thats what we are supposed to do. There are just too many cases of guys committing to jobs that they have no clue how to do, getting half way into it (the great deckwash debacle of '08) and realizing it then coming here for answers, or worse, coming back the next year showing pics of last years failures (the great paint flake of '08) and looking for someone to bail them out. If you are doing things properly, callbacks are really pretty rare.

Anyone can come in here and talk about pretty much anything they want. The rules are ridiculously easy to follow, and easier to skirt. In the end, each member ought to look at the history of what they have been doing in the paint industry and consider doing better. If you have driven 2 business entities into the ground, publically discussed on other forums, try a slice of humble pie and make it work this time around. If you have worked hard and built a successful business, keep on building and share with people who appreciate it and are capable of reciprocating.

Why are you so angry at comedians?

I want to hear it Bill. Here is another case on this forum of a DIY undercutting hack screwing up another house and coming here for a miracle answer. You should be consistant and refer him to a DIY forum for help. Or is this "LEARN HOW TO PAINT ....Paint Talk" ?

OK, let me spell it out.

D-I-S-R-E-S-P-E-C-T between participants.

it's not WHAT is said, but HOW it is said. Trash talk and insults between the combatants diminish the community !

Bullsh!t Bill.

Pretend contractors perfoming shoddy work looking for advice over and over again is bad for this place.

so what your saying is everytime you touch something.. it turns to gold? You have NEVER had any questions over why something turns out other than how you planned? I thought that was what a forum was all about.. a place to discuss topics that we all face on a day to day basis. Why is it that this happens here an not CT? It is always discussed how CT is bad and blah blah blah.. but this never happens there. Or Tree Fiddy is thrown around.. which I think is totally hillarious.. but general questions are answered.

LIKE:http://www.contractortalk.com/f50/st...rasilia-58792/

guy is asking about stringers for a deck.. others chime in instead of "you know nothing you do it yourself freaking hack!!!!"..

Of course I have made mistakes N8. You should probably look at history with you old pal Jason before you jump on board. He has a history of taking on work that he is not qualified to do and then coming here for a miracle answer to fix it.

Let me put it to you like this ---- you have been pricing out several exteriors only to find that you are loosing these jobs to a cheaper less qualified company that is cutting corners and performs less than par work. Let me introduce Jason. You are being effected N8. Your lack of work has a direct relation to guys like this. The sooner you wake up and smell the coffee the better off you will be. I am not here trying to stroke my own ego. I am here to point out the guy that is stealing work from YOU.

This is a case of Nepts and VP peeing on all of their brothers in paint talk as usual.

Never argue with a fool - they will drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.
