Depending on size and situation.
The largest I would build alone would be 6 levels high....as long as I had something to tie into, otherwise sub it out to a should
Scaffold company
I've got a job that's 32-40 ft up from the ground, tight to the house and down into the ravine...nightmare. nor even sure I wanna work that hard.. or send the guys to work that hard...
I was just wondering what you guys do....I'm thinkin subbing it out is a good idea if I decide I actually want to do it...:/the painting isn't so bad it's the access that's a pita .but it's a referral from one of my favorite realtor so I feel kinda obligated in a way...
No, but my husband is a state certified erector. I was thinkin about hiring him as and grabbing enough scaffolding from the masonry yard to do it as there's just not a lot of frames needed.
@lilpaintchic I was all set to kick your butt into next week when I saw the title to this thread. Then I realized it was an actual conversation. Clearly I didn't have enough coffee today.
over bid the hell out of it. If you get the job, then go to a rental yard and ask if they know of someone who would do the scaffold setup for you for a fee. But it sounds like this client wants a band-aid put on a gushing wound. If it is in that bad of shape now that means it hasn't been properly maintained for a while, which justifies getting top dollar out of it to correct it.
Around here, just about every scaffold rental company can do the erection for you. You should be able to call your scaffolding company and ask them for an estimate.
Depends if I'm alone or have a helper. Sometimes trying to get it up by myself is too risky.
