I've yet to meet anyone who has ever purchased something over the phone or given money to someone over the phone......so, it makes you wonder, how effective are phone sales calls in this day and age? I answered one the other day about extending the warranty on my NEW truck. I screamed into the phone, "I just bought the damn thing, I don't need an extended warranty on a NEW truck!"

23 @PACman, that's ridiculous. If you answered them all and listened to every speel, it would completely fill up your day!

I ignore area codes i'm not familiar with. If someone actually want to do business with me i'm sure they would leave a message. But even the messages they leave are getting out of hand. I got a call from a Ft. Worth area code wanting a price on painting an exterior AND prices on my paint. The thing was, it was a COMPUTER voice! No and ...no! I'm not going to give any pricing to someone in Ft. Worth unless they are HUMAN and can leave a legit message.

After reading all this, I guess I've got it pretty easy. Can you imagine what life would be like if nobody ever invented caller ID? I had it so long ago, you had to add a box between your landline and the actual phone. I remember thinking "what a world we live in" when I got a portable home phone with a display!

This is unrelated, but still annoys me as much as all the phone calls. Credit offers through the mail, begging letters from non-profits. I gave some money to Disabled American Veterans back in 2008, none since, yet I get at least 3 mailings a month from them asking for more. Small business credit offers of half a million, and I don't do enough to even deserve that kind of offer, nor would I be stupid enough to take such an offer. Seems like we just get intruded upon more and more with each passing day, with no end in sight.

Every few months I get a call from my bank offering me an increase on my credit card limit. My limit is currently massive in my opinion. I pay the balance every month. Every single time I tell them that if I need more room on my credit card, I'll be looking up the number for the suicide hotline.

That usually ends the conversation. I keep telling them to stop offering me this, but they're relentless.

About once a year, they call me with some offer of 'enhanced security' for my credit card that will cost me an extra $20/month. I respond by asking them if they're telling me that the current account has poor security and if that's how they do business? Again, generally puts an end to the conversation.

Ever since I got a cel phone, I've never had one charity call me. Not once.

I hardly step foot in the bank anymore. With all the online banking etc. However, everytime I do, like clockwork I'll get a phone call from my bank to take part In a customer survey. How was the service, blah blah blah. I say to them great! Until you decided to call me! This is what my bank fees are paying for?! Ugg.

today i've had "my yelp representative" call and leave a message from three different area codes. Once it was a guy and twice it was a woman. Why they would be calling me from a Ft.Worth area code i have no idea.

When the caller is a city name or a long string of numbers I never answer! I'm telling you, if there is any real reason for the call THEY WILL LEAVE A MESSAGE, on the rare occasion that happens, I call right back with the excuse I was in the water closet, on the front deck or on the 3rd floor at the moment they called (Or some other reasonable excuse).
