What do you think about the use of Residential Painting vs. House Painting in your sales & marketing materials.
I’ve always used Residential Painting because I thought it sounded more classy, but... I’m wondering if there’s something to be said for House Painting in that it clearly tells what you do - in simple HO language.
To me (and I'm obviously not a consumer of my own services) house painting always indicated exterior painting. Residential painting kind of covers both interior/exterior. But traditionally, a house painter is a guy on a ladder outside. MHO
I think PWG nailed it (god I hated saying that ) But also, "house" may give the impression you cater to the slum lord who wants his crappy property painted.
There's just a different impression between "house" and "residence".
Ding Ding! If you use Google Insights, "residential" is barely on the radar, although it does sound better.
Top search term is House Paint
Some "rising searches" are painting supplies and materials!
This happens to me all the time: someone asks what I do for a living. I used to say, "I'm a painter." Generally the response I got was: "like an artist or house painter?" I hated house painter. So now I say professional painter, or painting contractor. But residential sounds way better.
"Residential" includes apartments, and condos. This implies you provide a broader service then just painting houses.
