Default Spray Paint To Spray Gun?

Hello I was wondering if there are any negative results if you would use a base coat from a spray can and then used a spray gun for clear coat. I am using automotive paint by the way. Thank you!

As long as the products are compatible with each other you'll be fine.

Just so you know, you can spray enamels or polys over lacquer. Do not spray lacquers over enamels or polys. It will wrinkle like heck.
