Default Stages

No, I dont mean bakers or towers. Business stages. One of the things that makes communication difficult in this type of a forum setting is that there are not only different business models, but businesses in dramatically different stages of their life cycle present. This, I believe, affects most discussions, from the irrepressible "whites" topic to whether or not discounts are a good idea.

Please read this article. I believe there is alot of truth to it. Sometimes, in some of these discussions on painttalk, the likelihood of meaningful connection is about as likely as a thoughtful discussion with a 2 year old in a room full of teenagers.

Interesting article. I notice "productivity" is not mentioned until the established stage. The stuff the that needs to be be focused on in earlier stages are more business, not technical skills. Good stuff, make for a good base for a business plan.

Makes it hard to "compare apples to apples" when the site has a varied mix of business owners, employees, paint store owners and sole props.

Sometimes the "whites" topic is the common ground.

Yes, sometimes the whites are the common denominator.

I don't think anyone is ever going to get a satisfying, intense business conversation fix here...the place full of a bunch of painters...with a few a little smarter than the rest....I'm sure there are other avenues or sites for that sort of stimuli.
whites are a must....imho....

Crap, I was just going to ask if anyone had a good spreadsheet format for ROI tracking. Oh well...
