I smell bs on this one. There is no way Cashmere is $17 and PC is $22. You would have to buy 100x as much as you do annually. I will call my salesman on Monday I want to hear him laugh. This is the same clown that says he pays $13.99 for zero VOC 200. Must be SW's biggest nationwide account at only $8k

I got my local sw a 10000 sq ' condo contractor agreed to let us use cashmere after sample boards were made up scuff test and touch up test dome against leading competition. And got 20 a gallon priced locked in for 2 years plus the other new construction work pimped cashmere all over TN but is a really good product IMO

Well so far tonight I have put the following on the walls , Duration Satin Extra White base, Duration Matt Deep Base, and Pro Mar 200 egg shell. Duration kept wanting to jump off the wall back onto the half inch nap, but the Pro Mar 200 gets my vote so far, covers and spreads great. Not impressed with the contractor value 6 pack sleeves. The woolly are Lways predictable and nice, but I was impressed with micro fibre sleeves. Well time to go back to Get a bowl of corn flakes and hit the couch , the big move is tomorrow.

Built, I know you may think its bs but if these are his two main products sw can sell them to him that cheap. That's how sw makes billions a year. They find out what you use the most of, then they sell those few products rock bottom or below cost just to get you to keep walking in thier store....I have never used cashmere so if I go to my rep and get a price I'm sure it's going to be in the $30s. That's where they make up the difference. All paint company's do it......ppg is doing it to me now just to get me to start buying more from them.....I posted my price for speed hide eggshell and ncpaint told me I was getting it below what he pays (and he owns a paint store)
I'm not bashing sw cause like I said they all do it

You probably buy more product than $8k per year to get low pricing? In another thread he claims to only buy $8k annually at SW.

list price for duration interior is 55/gal in my area..i think the last time i bought a gallon it was around 47 honestly cant remember though i dont use it alot. i know that big accounts with sherwin, they will actually provide some products at below cost(according to rep) because it provides the company with the volume to produce the product at a cheaper rate. This helps them produce greater profitablility on smaller accounts/ and in general..but i dont think any sherwin store would creep low enough to 20/gal. have to agree there bs.

I don't doubt buying high volume of 1 or even 3 products equates to excellent pricing. Spending $8k per year is not high enough IMO to get Zero 200 at $13.99 and the other extremely low prices mentioned. He did mention he was a salesman before so maybe his buddies set prices for him. I guess I need to be nicer to my guy at SW LOL

That's all good to say, but NO ONE is selling ANYTHING without profiting. So don't let them tell you otherwise. Surely don't fool yourself into thinking you're getting the upper hand.
If all those posting anti-SW comments in the last 3 months really quit buying from them, they would treat those of us who use them regularly EVEN BETTER!!!!!
Don't get me wrong. I am not anti BM, KM, Behr, Olympic, Valspar, etc.
Honestly, if they suck and are so high priced, it only makes you gripers look stupid for continuing to patronize their stores.

FINN-

Depending on how much you use and how often you buy paint, it may benefit you to do what I did last summer.

I was griping that SW had a 40% sale to the public. I mentioned just buying 20 extra gal of duration ext. and duration home and they said, "Go for it!"

I toted some 5rs in a while back to get tinted that I bought in July! I know this is not practical, but I knew I would be buying them anyway. They were $38 a gallon. Pretty good deal in these parts. They had graco tips for 30 percent off and I bought 4 of those too. Spent a lot of money that day, but it's been worth it so far.

So, if you go get a truckload of melons for $2 each and sell them for $1 each, then realize you are losing money, you get a bigger truck in order to sell more melons?

All SW does is take 40% list price.
Have you seen "LP"? It's high!

Ask manager to have a sales representative to contact you. They have more field experience and will be able to better price you. Know keep in mind they will never be the cheepest if you are looking for that Sherwin-Williams is not for you. Having said that what you will get is good consistent products, Field representation and multiple locations. Good Luck
