I was using an OB primer today....outside...for about 2 hours...and I almost got sick from the fumes.

Is there any good method to avoid killing millions of brain cells when using this stuff? It did work awesome tho.

I grew up working for my "Old Man".

He'd say something like "Quit crying and get to work! I've been breathing that S*%$ all my life."

Ya, that was in the wintertime tho. But its pretty good for covering up while doing solvents and spraying.

You look ready to knock over a gas station.

Hey........wait! Didn't I see you on World's Dumbest Criminals 34? :jester:

Seriously, buy a decent mask for thirty bucks, , maybe even spring for the replacement cartridges and filters too. It is your health and comfort after all.

I mostly just don't opt for oil anymore, but use a mask if I'm going to be inside wit oil for a more than half an hour to an hour, always while spraying, whether oil or WB. The cartridges dont last as long as some might think, especially with the spray.

I thought the respirator would only block particles...not fumes. T

good idea to keep the filters in a sealed zip lock bag when the mask isn't on your face . keeps the carbon from being activated/working for free:thumbup:
Also helps keep the interior of the mask cleaner so you don't inhale a bunch of garbage when you put it on after digging it out of some supply bin or off a hook in your rig.

cappaint,

Are you really running a painting business without having basic knowledge of trade safety standards? If so, I would highly suggest that you get proper training before continuing, for your safety, and for the safety of others.

If you're an employee, it is your right to demand and recieve proper PPE(personal protective equipment) from your employer.

While some of the above posts read a little harsh they all bring up the valid points that you seem to be learning as you go. I always push for proper training because imo without it the end results is watering down the skilled trade.

I brushed oil paint on an interior yesterday and honestly did not smell a thing, I could not imagine feeling the effects on an exterior.

Wear a properly fitted respirator and make safe ladder moves.
