I'm from South Dakota. The guy who got me going in this business died in the middle of a job within a year. I still had a lot too learn, but had lined up some business that had too get done.
I will admit that he taught me enough to be dangerous, but with help of groups like this and help from local painters I learned a lot. Also spent a year working with a master painter.
I think the reason the local boys at the time were willing to help me is because I did not go into this business to cut throat price wise. I have also included them on some larger projects were they made some dam good money.
