Welcome to PT, Boxcutter. This forum is the best source I know of, but I don't think there's a hard-copy.

BTW, I'm just up the road from ya here in the Magnolia state. I'm kinda obligated to give my Cajun neighbors a smartaleck welcome.

Welcome!

There are several books on paint contracting. I have a couple which I can't recall the titles at the moment. I also have one on drywall contracting.

Probably one of the first things to learn is understanding your production rates. For everything! I suppose once you have a good grasp of that, then you can sharpen your estimating skills.

As far as materials and equipment, some of the older contracting books may not cover that. However, sites like Paint Talk, offer a lot of feedback on these subjects.

Once you've acquired some basic trade and contracting skills, you'll probably want to search for the marketing and business sections of this site. There's a wealth of information. And if you can't find anything, just post a question. A lot of experienced guys and gals are here to help.

Enjoy!

Yeah, what they said. Instead of a book, try using the ADVANCED search function up at the top to search for the specific topics you are most interested.

And when your internet searches come up short, start a new thread. The more thought you put into an opening post, the more thoughtful responses you will get.
