Default Digital Estimator Looking for Others Likewise

Hi Everyone,
I'm working as a contract estimator doing take-off for painters as well as others.
It is my hope that I can meet some other people doing the same thing to share ideas and methods. Seems like it take a long time to get through a set of plans to get all of the paint quantities off.
Anyone out there like to discuss what we do?

My name is Gary and I'm in the Tampa area.

Default I do digital estimating for painters

I use .pdf plans and I'm currently using a program called VU360.

I see you're from Tampa it looks like.

Just to let you know I'm working on 4 fire stations in Sumter County if you're interested. They all bid in a few days to a slew of generals.

e-mail me if you like.

Gary

Quit bidding to gc's couple of years ago.Seemed kind of useless.50 painters bidding to 30 GC's who are just lookin for the cheapest painter they can get.I was bidding city & county work for awhile also.It was supposed to be small business oriented.I asked 1 of the guys that took the bids where we placed on 1 of the jobs and he said ,"you were right in the middle, but we have to give it to the lowest bidder even though the guy that got it, way under bid and will probably loose his a$$." WTF!!!!!

Just like any market Aaron you have to research your bids and know your GC's before bidding. Just because I had a HO go with a low baller this week doesnt mean I will swear off all HO's from now on.

This is true. I rarely do a bid unless it is part of project with a GC I have a relationship with.
