I use mainly 2K urethane, polyester and solvent base dye stain. Right now most of my work is painted MDF, whenever possible with edge banding on the sides...for a 15% gloss i would normally do 2 coats wet on wet of PU pigmented sealer, sand and apply the PU top coat. If it's high gloss on MDF i would do 3 coats wet on wet of polyester sealer, sand and apply PU topcoat, wait 2 days and buff it out.
