Default Hello to All

Hi everyone, I joined awhile back but have never posted, just wanted to say hi to my fellow painters. I am a 3rd generation painter, I started going to work with my father on weekends when I was a young kid 10 years old, I thought it was fun. Now I'm 45 and still going at it. Thanks, Bob.

Hey Bob ! There are a few of us worked for pops then wound up doing it ourselves. Hope your old man wasn't as tough as mine. But most people in the trades I talk to say the same thing about their fathers, "He was harder on me than any one else."

Welcome

Welcome Bob! Sounds like your old man, and my old man are cut from the same cloth. Mines retired now, but I still go to him when I need an ear to bend.

Thankyou for the warm welcome.

@ Oden. Giants, Yanks.

@ bikerboy, not sure what you mean by that, remember I'm new to this board, may take me a week to get up to speed on all the terminology.

After spending a few days reading some of the posts I can tell you I'm really liking this site. I have lots of painting stories to share and I am looking foward to getting to know all of you. Last night I was literally laughing out loud reading some of your responses to the DIYers. I can really relate to the "another painter said he can do the job for ***, can you do it for the same price" line. I painted a new custom house about 6 weeks ago, the builder calls me to come do the touch up and says it would be a good time to do it cause the people are away on vacation. I'm thinking to myself why would it matter if they are on vacation, its a brand new empty house. I get there the next day and surprise!!! They already moved in, and to top it off, the taper touched up several big areas in the house and doesn't sand a freaking thing, WTF!!!!! I need a new career. Sorry, I just needed to vent a little. Where is the venting thread? Maybe I'll start one. Thanks for listening.
