Default Hello All!

I've been a lurker for awhile now. I just wanted an introduction to be my first post. First of all I appreciate all the very helpful post on here. There is alot of very good information here. I started my painting journey as an apprentice out of the local union hall in the late eighty's. First job was scraping grease and cleaning a high ceiling deck off a scaffold about 20 to 30 yards in front of the painters. I thought they hired me to paint I even showed up in whites........lol boy was I wrong, I went home after working ten hrs in grease and was black from head to toe and plum wore out. I didn't want to go back the next day, but I was a high school drop out with no other options. I went back.

I finally learned enough to be productive and got hired with a local union contractor. I stayed busy for about 12yrs pushing commercial/Industrial work.

I had a couple yr stint with residential, I learned real quick, that was another ballgame.

I finally had enough and went back to school, painted during the day and college at night to earn my degree. Although I like my day job, sometimes I still miss hanging off the side of a water tank in a Bosun's chair or hanging vinly. But once a painter always a painter. I still contract side jobs.

Well enough rambling....lol Paint on painter

Yeah i like the painting I do now. 95% of the jobs I do now are T&M residential remodel work, word of mouth. This forum has really helped me along ways with FF work. And I appreciate it. There is two things I try to follow.

1. Protect myself from the environment we painters work in and wear proper PPE equipment.

2. Be able to Perform a quality job AND make a profit or I pass on the job.
