Default Hello From Florida

Hello Everyone,

After taking a few years vacation (By Choice) I have found myself in a new market slinging a brush again.

Wish this resource was around years ago maybe I could have taken a longer break.

Looking forward to chatting it up with all of you and maybe picking your brains a bit as I grow. Already have learned a lot just skipping around the forum.

Merry Christmas
Lawsan

One question I have is labor costs. I know I cannot get the same rates as I did in South Florida but if anyone would care to chime in with some average T&M rates it would be gratefully accepted.

Last thing I want to do is undercut myself or other contractors.

Here are 2 very very important questions for you to answer . Be 100% truthful in your reply.

Do you remove door knobs to paint under them?

When installing outlet plate and switch plates do you align the screws pointing in one direction? Or do you just turn the screws until they don't turn any more leaving the screw heads looking inconsistent?

The answer to these 2 questions is vital. We can not tell what kind of painter you really are without this knowledge.

Knobs off! All plate screw are set! outlets horizontal switches vertical. I am OCD almost to a fault.

All things are possible, but this old fart doesn't know much about the abilities of the dog asking. What type of bones you like to chew on, repaints, commercial, new construction, or are you in need of fast money for the Holidays. Are you 100% legal and do you carry at least 1M in liability insurance ? Truly not trying to under mind you in any way. As you know their are many different grades of painters in this area. And MERRY CHRISTMAS

Merry Christmas to you as well.

My focus is on midrange residential repaints.($150-$400,000) I would not be opposed to taking on some commercial work. Will leave new construction to the younger crowd. The margins are just to tight.

Just finished up forming the legal structure of the company insurance will be added in the next week or so. I plan to roll out my marketing strategy mid January. Currently I am finishing up the remodelling of my personal properties.

No I do not need fast money but would love to get in the trenches if anyone has a need near me. If I wanted to just make Christmas money I would show up at the paint store 7am in whites with my grip in hand.

As for quality I may not be the best in the world but I will give that dog a run for his money.
