Default hello; Hard times=painting 4 me

i worked as a GC superintendent before the recession.
in the last 9 months, painting has been finding me.
I never painted before. Friend has walls that need paint. I make some cash.

I have seen professional painters. I know i was really bad at first.
Now it is coming to me, slowly.

I appreciate paint more. Lousy work is everywhere.

thanks for the info on the site. I read all the time, searching for tips, and expanding my understanding of the industry.

I make ok money. I hope to build a livelihood

jeff

Never argue with a fool - they will drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Were you one of those jerk off supers who treated painters like crap? If so you will gain a whole new appreciation for the trade. Hope you do alright.

supers do what they have to do to get by.
i appreciate everybody's trade
if you were a super, you might gain an appreciation for what they deal
with.
impractical timetable, incompetent management support, wing nut owner's reps, other trades that dont show up when they say they will, dont bring what they need, dont finish anything, leave garbage everywhere, disrespect other people's work, blow dope on the job, relieve themselves wherever the urge strikes etc

by the time the painter shows up, there is a lot of water over the dam-
and yes, the painter always gets screwed:
block not scraped, drywall not pointed, nothing finished but start painting anyway because there is 1 week left and the carpet guy has to get in.

I am not sorry i left that world. i miss the steady checks, but now i work alone
