Default Hello from Memphis!

Hi everyone,

I came across this awesome community while browsing for information about breaking into the industry of residential and commercial painting. I'm only 22 years old, but I've been managing businesses since I was 18. I came here because I'm currently looking to expand my technical knowledge of working in this industry. I've been searching for a contractor here in town to find work with and start the process of learning and perfecting, but it's hard to know where to look!

My ultimate goal is to combine my knowledge of running a successful business and technical knowledge to create my own small-time contracting business to keep me busy and help me fuel my passion for living life to it's fullest potential. I have a fair amount of money that I've saved up for investing into the equipment that's necessaryI look forward to learning from you all and really getting into the industry!

Any tips and ideas on breaking through are absolutely welcome! I already have so much to read just on these forums alone. I'm looking forward to it!

Cheers!

Welcome from the other end of the state.

You might check out Contractors Incorporated. There a big painting outfit based in Memphis. They do mostly blow and go apt complexes. Not my cup of tea , but they have a lot of work.

Welcome from Mississippi. You familiar with the Farrell-Calhoun brand of paint?

Just went out to the smokies and hiked through a large portion of them. Great stuff out on the other side of the state. Also, thank you for the advice. I'm going to give them a call.

Yes. They're based here. I've heard mixed reviews on the product, but for the price (I believe around $12 a gallon) I've heard it performs well. Did you have information/opinions on it?

They do well here in central MS. Don't know about $12/gallon except ceiling white. I know they have a lower line of paint which I think of as "spec-house paint". Haven't tried it (I don't do NC). I use their paint on my house and it performs really well for the price.
