Default Hello from New Jersey

Transplanted from Staten Island and now in NJ for 30 years or so. Painted for 20 years or so then went into the trucking business for 10 years then........ the economy got the best of me.

So now I'm back in the paint biz. Started off in January (not a good time to start but had no choice) and finally in the last couple of months through knocking on a few doors and advertising I'm busy now.
Got so busy I hired a couple of guys but scaled down because they sucked as painters. My quality went down and I can't have that. Did the same thing in the 80's. Had 10 guys working for me and all I did was driving around fixing their mistakes. Can't seem to get the formula right but I'll keep on trying.
Maybe commercial is the way to go with a crew.

I did post in another thread that I was going to make some brush covers at $3.00 or $4.00 each but I'm researching the correct material. Tried the SW plastic ones years ago but the brushes never dried properly. Made them out of cardboard and they worked great but they eventually wore out after 6 months. I saw the red mesh ones but in my opinion I need something that's rigid so I can throw the brush anywhere. Also did the hang the brush in the truck thing but the brushes turned into dusters sooner than I wanted. When you have a helper or two they don't always take care of the brushes like you do. I need an idiot proof cover.
I''ll keep you updated on the covers if anyone is interested.

Well that's my rant.... happy painting!!

welcome again Russ,

I hope your are in a different class of humanoids than some of the bottom feeders we've had from your fair state recently. I hate to judge all by a few, so I hope you can even the odds

as far as idiot proof, you know the old saying, as soon as something idiot proof is invented, God develops a better idiot.

Wow.... I guess it depends on where they come from. Lots of nice people where I come from but some can be aggressive. I think you can find that anywhere. Guess you got a live one.

Welcome back Russ. I'll certainly give you the benefit of the doubt but will admit a slight shudder passed through me and I crossed myself when I saw the NJ in your thread title. Just kidding - glad to have you "reactivated".

What happened with the new jersey thing? Did someone from these parts get someone's nose out of joint?
