Talking Hello from Nova Scotia, Canada INTRO

Hello!

I have been reading many posts and comments so I thought it was about time to introduce myself. My name is Jeff Huff and my company is Room In A Day . I moved to a small county in Nova Scotia (less than 24,000 pop.) 3 years ago from a Calgary, Alberta to have our son and enjoy small town life. I paint, crackfill (thats what everyone in Nova Scotia calls taping) and do a little remolding to keep myself busy.

Anyway, for the most part I am getting a lot of useful information and confirmation from all of you and even some motivation at times!

I look forward to actually contributing and commenting sometime.

Cheers!

Jeff Huff

Welcome to the forum.
I think it would be great if you started a thread on the methods you use to do a room in a day, I think many of us are curious as to how that works.

Welcome Jeff.

A room in a day is no problem under the right circumstances ie. minimal prep or repair, room size, colors, ect. ect.

Is this "room in a day" your main business or just more of a marketing gimick that you use?

Thanks for the comments! Room In A Day is my business name and my full time gig! It was an idea I had back out in Alberta where I was overpaid and under worked....... now I am over worked and underpaid trying to live up to this name! When mini-me arrived, I decided to change careers and got back into painting and drywall so I could be home every night. I have been at this now full time for 3 years.

The name works to my advantage as it gets the potential clients asking (and thinking) what a Room In A Day is - it is a great rapport builder! I mostly do residential repaints and when the opportunity presents itself, I can create opportunities for further revenue generation. I prefer to paint as I have less tools to carry around and buy!

On a side note, there are 24 hours make up a day, so a ton of possibilities exist for clients! I have done at least a dozen rooms this past year where I installed new trim and doors, new flooring and a complete re-paint (ceiling, trim and walls) in less than 24 hours (2-3 working days, 16 - 24 hours).

I usually work alone because I am too picky (and critical), however I have just hired a helper to assist with my work-load. I would like to try increase my business size just enough to leave me time to work in and on my business.

Cheers,

....Maybe you could be "Do a room, in a hour" if ; "In a Day" doesn't work ?

There sure is alot of Canadians on this "Paint Talk"....
I always wanted to know about there Health Care ?...It's probably against the rules ?
