Default Hey!

I've been checking out this forum for a couple days now, and decided to sign up.

My name is Derek, I live in Winnipeg,Manitoba,Canada, I'm 28 and I've only been painting for 4 months but I love it!!!!!

It's relaxing and not such a back busting job like ones I've had in the past.
I never ever thought there'd be a painters forum This place kicks ass!!

I've done construction,Welding,Boat building, Oil Rigs,Concrete etc,etc

The reason I feel relaxed is just from the sound of the roller on the wall and some music just loud enough so that I can hear it while I work.

The worst part of my job so far is carrying a 5er up 4 floors so I really can't complain.

One thing I've found though and I'm not sure if this is true for all painters/companies is the amount of talking behind the back that goes on...... I can't believe it!
The foreman of this job were on is a year older than me but he's been painting for quite sometime now. He keeps telling the one other guy that we work with that I'm no good, that I'll never make it as a painter etc. The other guy I work with says I'm doing great!!

Sorry just had to vent a little......

I really don't think this guy is right. I've done more and had more opportunity than him in 4 months than he did in his first 2 years of being in the business!! He told me all he did was get coffee and pole sand. I pole sand,patch,cut-in and roll already. I think he's just jealous

Thanks dmm.

With all the toxins I've inhaled over the years, the fall hazards I've avoided, the wear and tear on my neck and shoulders, the a$$hole colleagues and bosses, the demanding customers, the stereotypes, the weather, the failed products, the spills, the over spray, the vanishing eyesight....I almost forgot how relaxing my job is.
