Default Hi Everybody!

hi to all my fellow painters. bin lurking awhile and thouht it was time and jump into this snake pit and tell you about myself. i have been working for quite a few years now having gotten my start working as part of a gypsy crew moving threw neighborhoods offering to repave driveways and repaint houses. we'd use the same material for both and most of the time we really would not do much more then get a downpayment and then take off. i didnt learn to much about painting or driveways but it did help me to learn how to sell jobs and close on the spot.

i have moved around a lot - michigan, philly, florida, new jersey are all places i have worked. in boston i got a job with a paper hanger which i thought might be a good way to learn that skill but he was a crotchety old fart who was always hitting the JB and boost (mixed - ugh) so I really didnt. from there I decided to head west and worked a bit for a father and son company in chicago. but i could never tell the two apart so it was confusing and i was always making them mad so i quit there. i next made it to colorado where a guy who was kind of a hack (not that there is anything wrong with that) hired me on. but everytime i screwed up - which was a lot - he put my name on some list and when id ask him why he would just get mad like id hurt his GD feelings or something. after learning all i could from him (not much) i moved on again. i ended up in oregon (lol - here they pronounce it or-ee-gun - bunch a fricken idiots) where i finally settled down.

now that ive found this site i hope to get lots of tips from all of you. i really want to learn how much i should charge for different types of jobs so i will be asking lots of questions about that. my bigest wish is to learn more about that secret pricing formula painters have. i have herd storys about it but have never gotten anyone to tell me about it though i know it is reel. i also need advice about weather its better too wash roller covers or toss them, what is the best brush to buy, should real painters where white or are jeans ok, and how to bid commercial jobs cause i know thats where the really big money is and the lifestyle is good. i am also hoping to improve my keybording spelling and grammer skills by posting here though i think i do reel good already.

soon i hope to get good enough at painting that i can tell others here how to run their businesses and argue with everyone a lot. i have been lurking long enough now that i also have some ideas for the mods about how this place can be run better so i will be telling them how reel soon. thanks to everyone for your help in geting me closer to my goals.

Welcome to pt RH! A bit of advise, next time you post try to put a little more thought into it. That intro was substandard IMO.

Intros are tough to do - especially with this crowd. But thanks for being quick to welcome me in.

No family but I have eight and a half cats. Don't ask - it wasn't pretty.

Now which one are you?

Yeah, sorry bout that but it was inevitable. The path of my journey is littered with disappointments, broken dreams, and empties.

Just make sure you only roll right to left, NEVER left to right.
