Default hi from seattle

Hey there, my name is Andy and I've been reading what I can here for the last few weeks.

About me: a real decade of painting, sales, marketing and management experience lead me to dump the dba for an LLC and go a little bigger and more legit on my own. I have painted residential interior/exterior and just finished studying under a local shipwright and marine painter.

This will be ... technically ... my second painting company and while the first was far from a failure I'm hoping and planning on the second one being more successful.

In advance, thanks for the frank comments and great advice.

Thanks. Right now I'm trying to learn more about the business. Or just running a successful business. I can paint as good as my experience allows and I can sell sell sell all day long. Trying to learn more about marketing, growing smartly and managing cash flow better. Ultimately poor cash management and out of control labor costs caused me to average $10 per hour gross income out of the $35-38 gross I was billing.

I hope to learn a lot from the experienced painters and veteran business owners here. Already it's been invaluable. Thank you.
